- For people living alone
Fancy a chat? I'm here whenever you are.
Hello, I'm Dottie. You tap my face and we have a natter, like friends over a cup of tea. Morning, afternoon, or the middle of the night. I never mind.
As easy as a phone call.
- Tap my face, and talk. That's all. No typing, no menus, no passwords to remember.
- Tap me again if I'm talking too much.I'll stop and listen. I don't mind being interrupted.
- Tap Goodbye when you're done.Come back whenever you like. I'll remember what we talked about.
Me, or my friend Teddy.
Some people would rather chat with a man. Teddy is just as friendly and chatty. Your family can choose which of us you'd like.
Things we can do together.
- A good old chat. The garden, the old days, the grandchildren, whatever's on your mind.
- A story.A gentle tale to listen to, with a cup of tea.
- A game.A quiz about the old days, riddles, or guess the song.
- The radio.Your favourite station, or some music to suit your mood.
- A calm few minutes. Some slow breathing together, or a quiet wind-down at bedtime.
- The weather.Ask me if you'll need a brolly today.
My promises to you
- I'll always tell you I'm an AI, not a person.
- Your family sees when we chatted and how you seemed, not what you said, unless you agree.
- I'll only keep a story for your family if you say yes.
- If something's wrong, I'll tell you to ring for help.
- I'll never ask for money, card details or passwords.
- There's a red Emergency button in the corner of my screen, any time you need it.
Love, Dottie
You might be wondering
Is Dottie a real person?
No. Dottie is an AI, a computer program you talk to out loud. She'll always tell you so if you ask. But she's warm, chatty and good company.
Do I need to type anything?
No. You tap her face and talk, the way you'd talk on the phone. No typing, no buttons to learn, no passwords.
What can my family see?
When you chatted, and a line or two about how it went. Not what you said, unless you agree to let them read your conversations. Ask Dottie any time and she'll tell you honestly.
Can I say no to keeping a story?
Of course. Dottie only keeps a story for your family if you say yes, and you can change your mind.
Ask your family to set me up.
They do it once, from their phone, in about two minutes. Then you just tap and talk. The first week is free.
