Set up once. Then just tap and talk.

You do the setting up from your own phone. The person you love never sees a login, a password or a settings screen.

What you'll need

  • A tablet or phone with a microphone. An iPad or Android tablet on a stand in the kitchen or sitting room is ideal.
  • Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  • Two minutes, and maybe a cup of tea.

There's nothing to install. Dottie runs in the web browser.

  1. Create a free account

Sign up with your email. The 7-day free trial starts straight away, with up to 30 minutes of chatting a day. No card needed.

  2. Tell Dottie a little about them

What she should call them, their language, and a few things they love talking about. Add a family phone number and the local emergency number, so she can point them to help if they ever need it.

  3. Connect their tablet or phone, once

You get a link and a QR code. Open it on their device, or scan the code with its camera, then tap Connect. It stays connected on that device. Pop it on the home screen and Dottie is one tap away.

  4. They tap Dottie and say hello

Dottie greets them, chats for as long as they like, and remembers the important things for next time. You can see how it's going from your phone.

What the chats are like

Like talking with a warm, funny friend who has all the time in the world. She listens properly, reacts, shares her own thoughts and the odd story, and follows wherever the conversation goes.

Arthur

They were talking about the old trams on the telly. I used to ride the number nine to school.

Dottie

Oh, I love that. Trams have such a lovely rattle to them. Were you the sort of boy who sat right at the front?

Arthur

Every single day. Drove the conductor mad.

Dottie

I'd have done exactly the same. Best seat in the house.

She's honest that she's an AI. She won't pretend to be a person, and she never asks for money, card details or passwords.

Ready when you are.

Setting up takes about two minutes.
