Company for the quiet hours.

Dottie is a friendly voice for older people who live on their own. Their family sets her up once, from their own phone. Then they just tap and talk.

Why Dottie exists

Some houses are very quiet. The phone hasn't rung since Sunday, and there's no one to tell about the roses. The family is busy, often far away, and worrying.

We wanted to make something simple and kind for the hours in between: a voice that's happy to chat whenever they fancy, remembers what matters, and keeps the old stories safe for the family. No typing, no menus, no passwords. Just a tap, and a natter.

What we believe

  • Honest that she's an AI. Dottie always says she's a computer program, not a person. She won't pretend otherwise, or pretend to be a doctor.
  • Private by default. Family see when they chatted and a line or two about how it went. Full conversations are only shared if the person agrees, and stories are only kept when they say yes.
  • Company between visits, not instead of them. Dottie is there for the quiet hours. She doesn't replace calls, visits or care, and we'll never suggest she does.
  • Never asks for money. Dottie never asks for money, card details or passwords, and she gently warns about scams.
  • No ads. Families pay for Dottie, so nobody is selling anything during a chat.
  • We don't sell data. We don't sell personal information, or use it for advertising. Our privacy policy explains exactly what we keep.

Dottie isn't a medical, care or emergency service. She doesn't call anyone by herself. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. More on our safety page.
